AI Engineer | Fully Remote (UK) | LLMs, Evaluation & Multimodal AI | Python | £70,000-£85,000 + Equity

We’re partnering with an ambitious, research-led AI startup that’s transforming how learners and professionals are assessed at scale. Their platform has already processed over 2 million assessments for awarding organisations, training providers and professional education companies, with exciting plans to push further into multimodal AI, automated evaluation and intelligent feedback systems. Whilst many technology businesses continue their return to the office, this team remains fully remote across the UK, offering engineers the flexibility to do their best work whilst collaborating in person through occasional London meetups.

You’ll become just the third AI-focused engineer, working directly alongside the VP of Engineering and one other AI Engineer. This is a genuine opportunity to shape the future of the platform, designing evaluation pipelines, improving LLM-powered systems, extending multimodal AI capabilities across text, images and video, and taking experiments all the way through to production. In a team this small, your work won’t disappear into a backlog-it will directly influence the product, customers and technical direction of the business.

We’re looking for someone with experience in:

• Python software engineering
• Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Evaluation pipelines and model benchmarking
• Experimentation and statistical analysis
• LangChain or similar frameworks
• RAG, semantic search or retrieval systems
• Backend APIs and production systems
• AWS, Azure or GCP
• Deploying ML systems into production
• Taking AI products from concept through to release
