Cloud Data Engineer – London – Fintech

Cloud Data Platform Engineer | London Hybrid | AWS, DynamoDB, Redis | £100k-£120k + 20% Bonus + Benefits

A growing UK financial services company is looking for a Cloud Data Platform Engineer to help design, build and evolve its business-critical data platforms as it continues to modernise its technology estate.

This is a hands-on engineering role working across modern AWS data infrastructure and a mixture of relational and non-relational technologies. You’ll help design and operate scalable production data systems, modernise existing platforms and make architectural decisions around the most appropriate technologies for different workloads.

The environment includes AWS, DynamoDB, Redis/ElastiCache, RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, S3, SQL Server and Snowflake, alongside modern infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD and automation practices.

You’ll work closely with software engineering and data teams on systems where performance, scalability, resilience, security and availability are critical.

Required experience:

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS data and database technologies
• Commercial experience with DynamoDB and Redis/ElastiCache
• Good understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server or Oracle
• Experience designing, building or operating production data/database platforms
• Experience with cloud migrations, platform modernisation or re-architecting production systems
• Understanding of the architectural trade-offs between relational, NoSQL, caching and search technologies
• Experience with Terraform/IaC, CI/CD or infrastructure automation
• Experience working with scalability, resilience, performance and availability within production environments
• Strong communication skills and the ability to take ownership of technical problems through to implementation

Experience with RDS/Aurora, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, CDC/replication, Python, Kafka, S3 or Snowflake would be beneficial, as would experience within FinTech, financial services or another high-volume transactional environment.

This would particularly suit an engineer who has worked in an environment where they’ve had broad technical ownership and exposure across multiple technologies, rather than being restricted to one narrow area of a data platform.

The role offers £100,000-£120,000 + 20% bonus + benefits, including an enhanced pension and life cover. It is London-based with hybrid working circa 3 days per week.
